Kansas City, Kan., police today made a large drug bust in the 10th and Kansas Avenue area.
Officer Patrick McCallop, a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kan., police, said a large quantity of meth was recovered after a large box truck was stopped at 10th and Kansas Avenue in Kansas City, Kan. An estimated 90 pounds of meth was seized.
“We got it off the streets,” Officer McCallop said.
The KCK police originally got a call from the Kansas Highway Patrol at 9 a.m. today. KHP was doing a vehicle inspection on the truck and asked for KCK’s assistance with its narcotics unit in the car stop, he said.
Officer McCallop said the driver allowed police to search the vehicle. They took it to the fleet garage at 50th and State, where the drugs were found inside a crate in the truck, inside a lathe, he said.
The driver was arrested and is in the Wyandotte County Jail, he said.
An investigation is ongoing to determine where the drugs were coming from and their destination, he said.
