KCK police investigate human remains found near Kansas River

Kansas City, Kan., police are investigating human remains that were found in the area of 42nd and Speaker Road, near the Kansas River, according to a spokesman.

Police received a call about 6:24 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, when a man who was fishing found the skeletal remains of a foot inside of a shoe, the police spokesman said.

The coroner has confirmed the skeletal remains to be human, police said. A search was conducted and more bones were located in that area, according to police.

Around 7:52 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department, along with Missouri search and rescue, conducted another search and located more bones in the same area, police said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s criminal investigations division, which is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
