KCK police investigate homicide near 18th and Central area

Kansas City, Kan., police are investigating a shooting homicide.

At 5:14 a.m. Sunday, June 19, in the 1700 block of Central Avenue, police responded to a shots fired call, the police spokesman said.

During the investigation, police received reports of a walk-in shooting victim at an area hospital, according to the spokesman.

Officers went to the hospital, where they found a vehicle with several bullet holes in it, and the victim, a male in his early 20s, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, the spokesman said.

The victim later died at the hospital from injuries he sustained from the shooting, police said.

The identity of the victim will not be released pending positive identification and family notification, according to police.

The homicide is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, which is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
