A Kansas City, Kansas, resident in his 80s today died after being injured in a carjacking in the 700 block of Pacific Avenue, according to a police spokesman.
The police spokesman stated that the victim’s pickup truck was unoccupied and sitting in the street. The victim attempted to deter the theft, and was dragged, resulting in injuries that led to his death, according to police. The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he later died, police said.
Police are searching for the suspect, who is believed to be driving the victim’s vehicle, a red 1998 Chevrolet 1500 with Kansas tag 753 GJK.
Officers responded to the assault in progress call at about 10:03 a.m. Nov. 29.
The identity of the victim will be released after there is positive identification and family notification, according to police.
