The 2016 Kansas Speedway schedule again features two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekends.
In what is becoming a May tradition on Mother’s Day weekend, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Kansas 400 will run under the lights on Saturday, May 7, while the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Toyota Tundra 250 will also run under the lights on Friday, May 6.
This past May, Jimmie Johnson became the second three-time Kansas Speedway winner by winning the SpongeBob SquarePants 400, while Matt Crafton became the first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver to win two races at Kansas.
In October 2016, Kansas Speedway will once again hold the fifth race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, the Hollywood Casino 400, on Oct. 16, with the NASCAR XFINITY Series Kansas Lottery 300 scheduled for Oct. 15.
This past October, Joey Logano assured himself a spot in the third round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup by winning the Hollywood Casino 400, while Kyle Busch once again visited Gatorade Victory Lane in the Kansas Lottery 300.
“It’s great to know that we will again be a part of NASCAR’s playoffs and will hopefully be hosting our playoff race at the same time the Kansas City Royals are in the playoffs for the third straight season,” said Kansas Speedway President Patrick Warren. “As we hosted our October races this year, it was an exciting time in Kansas City for fans as they supported both Kansas Speedway and the Royals. I look forward to another successful year for both organizations in 2016.”
The ARCA Racing Series will once again crown their champion at Kansas Speedway on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016. While Mason Mingus visited Gatorade Victory Lane this past October, Grant Enfinger was crowned the ARCA champion.
