Kansas receives emergency disaster declaration

Kansas has received a federal emergency disaster declaration for recent severe weather, heavy rains and flooding.

The request from Gov. Laura Kelly was approved by President Donald Trump.

Eighteen Kansas counties, not including Wyandotte County, are on the list for disaster assistance. The counties on the list include Anderson, Butler, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Coffey, Cowley, Crawford, Elk, Franklin, Greenwood, Harvey, Montgomery, Neosho, Osage, Reno, Sumner, Wilson, and Woodson. Other counties may be added later if requested by the state.
