Kansas Highway Patrol assists more than 700 motorists during Christmas weekend

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported assisting 771 motorists from 6 p.m. Dec. 23 through Monday night, Dec. 26.

During the Christmas weekend holiday, the KHP worked one fatal crash in Stafford County, according to a spokesman.

There were no driving under intoxication fatal crashes during that period, the KHP reported.

The KHP issued 646 speeding citations and 621 speeding warnings statewide, the KHP report said. Also, 48 adult safety belt citations were issued, along with seven adult safety belt warnings, one teen safety belt citation, and 12 child restraint citations.

There were more speeding tickets than the same period last year, and also, more motorist assists, according to the report.
