K-7 has been closed in Johnson County because of a search for a suspect who shot at a Lenexa, Kan., police officer on K-7, according to highway officials.
Northbound and southbound K-7 between 83rd Street and K-10 in Johnson County were closed to all traffic at the request of law enforcement.
Three DeSoto School District schools are on lockdown, according to authorities; Horizon Elementary, Mill Creek Middle and Mize Elementary.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, highway officials said.
