Injuries were reported in a crash on southbound I-635 near Kansas Avenue on Monday evening.
The accident created delays in rush-hour traffic at 5:20 p.m. Monday.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, a Kia Optima and a Honda Civic were southbound on I-635 in lane 3, while a Ford Edge was southbound on I-635 in lane 4.
The Civic and Edge slowed for traffic ahead and the Optima was unable to slow and struck the side of the Civic, the trooper’s report stated.
The Optima then veered to the right and struck the rear of the Edge, according to the trooper’s report.
The driver of the Optima, a 28-year-old Lawrence, Kansas, woman, had a possible injury, according to the trooper’s report.
The driver of the Civic, a 26-year-old man from Overland Park, Kansas, also had a possible injury, the report stated.
The driver of the Edge, a 34-year-old man from Kansas City, Kansas, had a possible injury, the report stated.
An 8-year-old boy in the Edge, who was in a proper child seat, was taken to the hospital with possible injuries, and a 10-year-old girl in the Edge, who was wearing her seat belt, also was taken to the hospital with possible injuries, the trooper’s report stated.
A 36-year-old woman passenger in the Edge from Kansas City, Kansas, also had a possible injury, the trooper’s report stated.
