Wyandotte County is under a winter weather advisory this morning until noon today, according to the National Weather Service.
The area has received some freezing drizzle, and additional ice accumulations of a light glaze are possible, according to the weather service.
Residents are advised to be aware that there could be slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges, which could affect the morning and evening commutes, the weather service said. Motorists were advised to slow down and use caution.
Temperatures plunged overnight, going from a high of 70 on Monday to a 20 degrees at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Subzero wind chills are expected tonight into Wednesday morning, according to the weather service.
Light snow, with minor accumulation, will be possible Wednesday night and Thursday, the weather service said.
Today, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 30, the weather service said. A northwest wind of 15 to 17 mph will gust as high as 26 mph.
Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 8, and wind chill values between minus 6 and 4. A north northwest wind of 11 to 15 mph will gust as high as 21 mph.
Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 26, the weather service said. The wind chill will be between minus 6 and 4. A north wind of 9 to 11 mph will gust as high as 21 mph.
Wednesday night, there is a 30 percent chance of snow, with a low of 18, according to the weather service. A northeast wind of 8 mph will gust as high as 20 mph.
Thursday, there is a 50 percent chance of snow, with a high near 26. A north northeast wind of 8 to 11 mph will gust as high as 20 mph.
