Eastbound I-70 from 110th Street to east of K-7 is being reduced to one open lane on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Crews will be placing temporary concrete barriers and doing temporary pavement marking work for an upcoming pavement tie-in, a spokesman said.
The lane reduction will be in effect between 9 a.m. and sundown Sept. 22 and 23, and between 7 a.m. and sundown on Sept. 24, the spokesman said.
When the traffic control work is completed sometime on Saturday, weather permitting, the two lanes of eastbound I-70 traffic will then be switched onto two asphalt shoo-fly detours at either end of the pavement reconstruction project, the spokesman said.
There will be a posted 60 mph speed limit through the work zone on this portion of the project.
Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via cones, barrier and signage. Drivers should expect delays during the day-long lane closures and may wish to use alternate routes.
