Update:
All lanes of I-35 were reopened about 1:45 a.m. Thursday, according to KDOT.
Earlier story:
All lanes of northbound and southbound I-35 were fully closed at 9 p.m. Wednesday because of a fatal traffic accident in southern Johnson County.
Northbound I-35 was being detoured onto Sunflower Road and southbound I-35 traffic was being detoured to Gardner Road, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation. Two persons were killed in the accident.
Drivers were asked to use alternate routes.
The highway could reopen in two to three hours, officials said.
