Human remains found near Kansas River identified

Human remains found on Aug. 29 near the Kansas River at 42nd and Speaker Road have been identified, according to a Kansas City, Kan., police spokesman.

The remains were confirmed by a forensic dentist and were identified as Travis D. Webster, 32, who was a resident of Topeka.

The remains were found by a fisherman who located the skeletal remains of a foot inside a shoe, which was confirmed by the coroner to be human, the spokesman said. A search was conducted and more bones were located in the area.

The spokesman stated the incident remains under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s criminal investigations division, which is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
