Human remains found in Kansas City, Kansas

Detectives with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department are investigating the discovery of human remains Tuesday afternoon near Kansas Avenue and just west of 18th Street Expressway, according to a police spokesman.

At 1 p.m. officers were dispatched to 400 S. Bayard on a report on possible human skeletal remains discovered by a Kansas Department of Transportation employee, the police spokesman stated.

An initial investigation indicated the individual whose remains were discovered was a male who had likely been dead for several months, possibly longer, according to the spokesman.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit is investigating. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
