Hot and rainy weather ahead this week

Today is expected to be sunny and hot, with a high of 88, according to the National Weather Service.

The chance of thunderstorms return Wednesday evening and will continue through at least Friday, the weather service said.

Temperatures will top out each day in the upper 80s to mid 90s, according to the weather service. Moderate humidity will keep overnight lows warm.

Tonight, expect a low of 72 with an east wind of 3 to 7 mph, the weather service said.

Wednesday, the high will be near 90 with a heat index as high as 96, according to the weather service. There will be an east wind of 3 to 5 mph.

Wednesday night, a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is in the forecast. It will be mostly cloudy with a low of 73, and an east wind of 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

On Thursday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high near 89, the weather service said. A calm wind will change to north northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

On Friday, the change of showers and thunderstorms is 30 percent, according to the weather service, and the high will be near 84.
