Hospital treats 22 total patients for fireworks injuries

Twenty-two patients were seen at the University of Kansas Health System for fireworks injuries over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, according to a spokesman.

There were 15 male and seven female patients, the spokesman stated.

Age ranged from 10 months to 75 years old.

Ten persons were admitted to the hospital for fireworks injuries, the spokesman stated.

The most common injuries were to the foot, face and hands, the spokesman said.

Those injuries were from homemade fireworks, sparklers, mortars and smoke bombs, according to the spokesman.
