Police are investigating at homicide shortly before noon on Saturday in the 4300 block of State Avenue, according to a police spokesman.
Officers responded to the shooting and found a male with an apparent gunshot wound, the spokesman stated.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to police.
Based on information provided by witnesses at the scene, a male suspect fled on foot, the spokesman stated. Police apprehended him several blocks away and took him into custody, according to the spokesman.
It was the 35th homicide of the year in Kansas City, Kansas.
The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit is investigating.
