Gaming revenues at the Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway increased in July, according to figures released today by the Kansas Lottery Commission.
Hollywood Casino gaming revenues were $12.67 million for July, as compared to $11.36 million in June, lottery figures showed.
Keith Kocher, director of program assurance and integrity for the Kansas Lottery, said July 2016 was a rare month, in that it had five Saturdays and Sundays. That led to higher revenues for the month of July for the three Kansas casinos.
The Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, Kan., posted gaming revenues of $15.75 million for July, compared to $13.79 million in June, according to lottery figures.
Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City, Kan., reported $3.54 million in gaming revenues for July, as compared to $3.02 million in June, lottery figures showed.
A fourth casino is under construction in southeast Kansas, near Pittsburg, according to Kocher. It recently held a ceremonial beam signing, he said. The Kansas Crossing casino will have a hotel and is scheduled to be completed in March.
He said the Hollywood Casino in Kansas City, Kan., is building a bar near the poker room, expected to be constructed by October.
Kansas Lottery sales of lottery tickets also are off to a good start in July, according to officials. Total sales in the traditional lottery category were up 21 percent in July compared with one year ago, because of large jackpots, officials said.
