Highway Patrol records one fatality, plus 1,000 speeding tickets in Christmas weekend holiday activity

The Kansas Highway Patrol has released its Christmas weekend holiday activity report.

The report showed one fatality, plus 1,000 speeding citations and 956 speeding warnings. More than 800 motorists were assisted, as well.

The reporting period for the holiday ran from 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, through 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 25.

The Kansas Highway Patrol worked one fatal crash in Kingman County over the weekend. It was not alcohol-related. KHP crash logs can be found at https://www.kansas.gov/khp-crashlogs/search/index.

Information in the table is compared to data from both 2016 and 2017.
