High in low 80s today, chance of storms in forecast Thursday

While Wednesday will be a sunny day with a high in the low 80s, Thursday has a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Thursday morning will see a low chance of storms, and the chances will increase Thursday night through Friday morning, and again Friday night through Saturday morning, the weather service said.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible late Thursday and late Friday, according to the weather service. Primary hazards will be large hail and damaging winds. There also is a risk of heavy rainfall both nights, and storm chances will continue into the weekend, the weather service said.

The Missouri and Kansas rivers in Wyandotte County are currently below flood stage and below action stage, according to hydrology charts.

Today, it will be sunny with a high near 83 and a north northwest wind of 3 to 8 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear with a low of 66 and a north northwest wind of 6 mph becoming calm in the evening, according to the weather service.

Thursday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10 a.m., with a high near 82, the weather service said. A calm wind will become south around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 69, and a light southeast wind, according to the weather service. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Friday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said. The high will be near 88 with a south wind of 3 to 5 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Friday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 71, according to the weather service. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Saturday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m., with a high near 89, the weather service said.

Saturday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., according to the weather service, with a low of 72.

Sunday, it will be partly sunny with a high near 88, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 71, according to the weather service.
