Storms in the northeast part of the region today probably will miss Wyandotte County and Greater Kansas City, according to the National Weather Service. However, the high heat continues today.
The main threat this morning will be from the torrential rain to the northeast of Kansas City, which may cause some flash flooding issues across areas that have been raked by several storms overnight, the weather service said.
Potentially hazardous heat will return on Wednesday with highs in the upper 90s and heat index values between 105 degrees and 110 degrees that afternoon, according to the weather service.
In Wyandotte County, the high today will be 95, with a heat index as high as 101, the weather service said. There will be a south southwest wind of 6 to 10 mph.
Tonight, expect a low of 75, with a south wind of 8 to 10 mph, according to the weather service.
Wednesday, it will be sunny and hot, with a high near 97, the weather service said. The heat index could be as high as 104. A south southwest wind of 11 to 16 mph will gust as high as 25 mph.
Wednesday night, the low will be around 75, with a southwest wind of 8 to 13 mph becoming light and variable after midnight, according to the weather service.
Thursday, the high will be near 92 with a north wind around 5 mph, the weather service said.
Thursday night, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, according to the weather service. The low will be around 72.
Friday, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said. It will be partly sunny with a high near 89.
