A few inches of rain has been reported in parts of Greater Kansas City, and Wyandotte County is under a flash flood warning until 3 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
From 2 to 3 inches of rain fell in a short period of time this evening, accompanied by lightning, and weather radar maps show that more rain and storms are possible tonight.
With the flash flood warning, residents are advised to be especially careful if they are in a vehicle, and not to try to drive through high water.
At the Village West area of Kansas City, Kan., the Sporting KC game with Colorado was postponed until a later date. The T-Bones game at CommunityAmerica Ballpark also was canceled because of rain. The T-Bones led 1-0 in the second inning when the game was called for rain. The T-Bones are scheduled to play again against Winnipeg at 1:05 p.m. Sunday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol worked an accident on I-35 northbound, just before 18th Street in Kansas City, Kan.
The accident occurred about 7:41 p.m. May 16.
The trooper’s report stated a 30-year-old resident of Kansas City, Kan., driving a Chevy Cavalier was northbound on I-35 when the driver overcorrected and lost control. The Cavalier spun to the right, struck the ditch and overturned, the report stated.
The resident was injured and taken to the hospital.
