The heat index in Wyandotte County could rise to 99 today as temperatures reach a high near 91, according to the National Weather Service.
The temperature was 79 degrees at 9 a.m. Tuesday with humidity at 69 percent, the weather service said.
Some areas to the east of Greater Kansas City will have a chance of thunderstorms this evening with high winds and hail, according to the weather service.
The Missouri River at Parkville now has fallen below action stage and continues below flood stage, according to hydrology charts. The Kansas River at 23rd Street also is below action stage and below flood stage.
Today will be sunny with a southwest wind of 11 to 13 mph, gusting as high as 25 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, the low will be around 62 with a west wind of 6 to 8 mph becoming north northeast after midnight, according to the weather service.
Wednesday, it will be sunny with a high near 80 and a north northeast wind of 6 to 8 mph, the weather service said.
