A heat advisory will be in effect from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.
High temperatures today will be in the mid to upper 90s with a heat index from 103 to 108, the weather service said.
Strong thunderstorms are possible tonight into Friday morning, the weather service said. These may include small hail, strong winds, frequent lightning and flash flooding with some storms.
Storm chances continue on Friday, but no severe weather is predicted then.
In Wyandotte County, the forecast today is mostly sunny with a high near 95 and a heat index as high as 107, the weather service said. A south wind will be from 7 to 11 mph.

Hot temperatures and high humidity will lead to dangerously hot condition, which could quickly lead to heat-related illnesses, according to the weather service. Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors, the weather service said.
Tonight, there is a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 76. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.
Friday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 86, with a calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.
Friday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 71, according to the weather service. There will be a north wind of 3 to 6 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.
Saturday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 86, the weather service said. There will be a north northeast wind of 5 to 9 mph.
Saturday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 66, according to the weather service.
Sunday’s forecast is mostly sunny with a high near 84, the weather service said.
