New Bethel Church, 745 Walker Ave., Kansas City, Kan., will hold a free health fair and Thanksgiving outreach from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22.
Because unhealthy lifestyle choices can cause health conditions, Pastor A. Glenn Brady decided to initiate the free health fair. Its goal is to encourage good health,and provide individuals with a wholesome meal and food for their family.
The theme of the event is “Celebrating Life and Good Health.”
The health fair also will include one-to-one assistance to sign up for the Affordable Health Care Act with onsite enrollment specialists from the McDaniel Hazely Group.
It also includes health screenings with licensed medical personnel, health presentations, youth activities, a hearty Thanksgiving dinner and groceries for the family.
The New Bethel Transportation Ministry will provide pickup and drop-off services throughout the Kansas City metro area upon request.
Organizations that are participating in this event include Health Wellmobile Diagnostic Imaging Center, bone density, biometrics and blood pressure screenings; Prostate Cancer Networking Group-Missouri Prostate Cancer Alliance, information; Susan G. Komen Foundation, information; Wyandotte County Health Department, clinical breast exams and cervical cancer information; KU Preventative Medicine-Juntos Center for Advancing Latino Health, BMI, glucose and blood pressure screenings; Mexican consulate-Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, information; Next Steps K, income tax information relating to the ACA; McDaniel Hazley Group, ACA enrollment assistance.
For the past four years, the New Bethel Church has led a Thanksgiving Community Outreach and prepared more than 600 meals for families across the Kansas City metro area. Many have joined the ministry and now participate in helping others.
In the past, Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” television actor, Palmer Williams Jr., has participated with the group in providing a Thanksgiving outreach for others.
