Great weather today, snow moves in on Friday

Great weather is in the forecast for today, Valentine’s Day.

Temperatures will rise to about 49 by 11 a.m., then a cold front moves in and temperatures will fall to about 35 for the rest of the day, the National Weather Service said. There could be high wind gusts.

Snow moves into the area on Friday, when 2 to 4 inches are possible, the weather service said. There will be another chance of snow on Saturday.

The weather service has issued a winter weather advisory for Wyandotte County from 9 a.m. Friday to midnight Friday. A light glaze of ice is possible in some parts of the region, according to the weather service.

Residents should plan on slippery road conditions on Friday, including the evening commute, the weather service said. Motorists should expect slippery roads, limited visibility and use caution while driving, according to the weather service.

Today, it will be mostly sunny, with a temperature rising to near 49 by 11 a.m., then falling to 35 during the remainder of the day, the weather service said. A southwest wind of 7 to 16 mph will become north northwest in the afternoon, with winds gusting as high as 25 mph.

Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of snow after 3 a.m., with a low of 16, according to the weather service. A north wind of 10 to 16 mph may gust as high as 25 mph.

Friday, there is a 90 percent chance of snow, with a high near 22, the weather service said. There will be a north northeast wind of 8 to 10 mph. From 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected.

Friday night, there is a 20 percent chance of snow before midnight, with a low of 11, according to the weather service, and a north northeast wind of 5 to 8 mph.

Saturday, there is a 30 percent chance of snow after noon, with a high near 28, the weather service said, and an east wind of 28.

Saturday night, there is a 60 percent chance of snow, mainly before midnight, with a low of 21, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 31, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 17, according to the weather service.

On Monday, Presidents Day, it will be partly sunny with a high near 28, the weather service said.

Monday night, it will be mostly cloudy with a low of 17, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 30, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of around 19, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 34, the weather service said.
