The Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association of Kansas has donated gasoline to the Kansas Highway Patrol to fill up patrol cars during the holidays.
It is the 29th consecutive year for the donation. Vouchers for more than 50 tanks of fuel were donated for troopers to use as they patrol the highways between Dec. 24 and Jan. 1.
Last year, the provided fuel allowed the patrol to assist 1,386 motorists, remove 55 impaired drivers from the roadways and issue 532 citations for occupant protection violations, according to a spokesman.
