Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway reported gaming revenues of $13.23 million in December, the best December ever there, according to Kansas Lottery officials.
Keith Kocher, the Kansas Lottery’s director of program assurance and integrity, told the Kansas Lottery Commission today that gaming revenues were up at all the state-owned casinos in December, compared to the previous December.
There also was an increase from November to December gaming revenues at Hollywood Casino, with November listed at $12 million.
Kocher said the Hollywood Casino gaming revenues had shown an increase for September through December.
While there was a little snow and ice for the last week of December, he said the month had five weekends, boosting the revenues.
There is probably a correlation between the consumer confidence index, general economy and the casino gaming revenues, according to Lottery Commissioner James Washington of Basehor.
The state of Kansas receives 22 percent of the casino gaming revenues at Hollywood Casino, while the Unified Government receives 3 percent.
In other Kansas Lottery news, lottery ticket sales in January also were up, according to the lottery’s executive director. Two games, Powerball and Mega Millions, had large jackpots recently.
