Friday’s weather: Sunny, high in 60s; rain possible Saturday

Mostly sunny skies are in today’s forecast, with a high near 61, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain chances have increased to 40 percent for the early morning hours of Saturday, the weather service said. Showers also are possible during the day on Saturday, and after 1 a.m. Sunday, according to the weather service.

The forecast is currently clear for Friday night before 1 a.m., and also for Saturday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The heaviest rainfall totals, up to a fourth of an inch, may occur in areas south of I-70, the weather service said.

On Sunday, there is a chance of light rain north of the Missouri River, according to the weather service.

River flooding will decline, but the main stem Missouri River will remain in flood for several more days or longer, the weather service said. The Missouri River gauge at Parkville, which is between Wyandotte County and Platte County, is currently in minor flood stage. The Kansas River gauge at 23rd Street, which is located at the state line at Kansas Avenue in the Armourdale area, also is in minor flood stage.

Motorists should avoid flooded roadways, turn around and take another route, according to the weather service.

Today, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 61 and a light and variable wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph in the morning, the weather service said.

Tonight, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m., with a low around 50, according to the weather service. An east northeast wind of 5 mph will become calm in the evening.

Saturday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers with a high near 59. It will be mostly cloudy, with an east wind of 5 to 7 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.

Saturday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 48 with a southeast wind of 6 mph becoming southwest after midnight.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 67, the weather service said, and a northwest wind of 6 to 11 mph.

Sunday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 46, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be sunny with a high near 71, the weather service said.

Monday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 53, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be sunny with a high near 79, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with a low of 59, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, skies will be mostly sunny, with a high near 77, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 56, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 76, the weather service said.
