Freezing fog is creating slick spots on some area highways this morning, according to the National Weather Service.
A dense fog advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday, the weather service said.
Besides slick surfaces, visibility is reduced to a quarter-mile or less this morning, according to the weather service.
Motorists are advised to slow down, use their headlights and leave plenty of space ahead of them, the weather service said.
The temperature at 7 a.m. was about 30 degrees. Later today, the temperature is expected to reach 52.
Accidents were reported this morning on I-635 northbound near Kansas Avenue; I-35 southbound near 18th Street Expressway and near Cambridge Circle; I-635 northbound near K-5 southbound; and I-670 eastbound at I-70, according to KC Scout.
