Precipitation is expected to move into the area Sunday morning in the form of freezing drizzle and light freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service.
Some sleet may also mix with the rain in central and northeast Missouri.
Light icing will be possible as precipitation arrives early Sunday morning.
With very cold roadways from the recent cold spell, a light glazing of ice will be possible before air temperatures warm above freezing by early afternoon. The icy roads may stay slick in an area north of Kansas City.
In Wyandotte County, the winter weather advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. to noon Sunday.
Freezing rain will likely be before 8 a.m. Sunday, then freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., then rain showers after 11 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
There may be patchy fog after 10 a.m., the weather service said. The high for the day will be near 35, with a south wind of 5 to 9 mph becoming light southwest in the afternoon. Less than a tenth of an inch of accumulation is expected.
Sunday night, there is a slight chance of drizzle before 11 p.m., then a slight chance of freezing drizzle between 11 p.m. and midnight, according to the weather service. The low will be around 27, with a light and variable wind becoming west around 5 mph in the evening.
