Four students receive scholarships to K-State

Four Wyandotte County students are receiving scholarships to Kansas State University through the Wabash CannonBall Kansas City Gala event.

The scholarships were awarded by the K-State Alumni Association. In all, 50 scholarships were given out.

Three incoming freshmen at K-State from Wyandotte County received scholarships: Molly Hackett, Bonner Springs, who attended St. James Academy; Abigail Neal, Kansas City, Kansas, who attended Piper High School; and Richard Pappert, Kansas City, Kansas, who attended Piper High School.

Also, Anna Kucera, Kansas City, Kansas, has the opportunity to have her scholarship renewed for the 2017-2018 school year through this program.

The Wabash CannonBall Gala is an annual black-tie event which includes an evening of dining and dancing to raise scholarship money for students from the Kansas City-area to attend K-State. The gala was started in 2007 and, to date, has funded 438 scholarships for Kansas City-area students totaling $1,095,000. Additionally, the Wabash CannonBall Kansas City has funded a scholarship endowment fund totaling nearly $2,150,000.
