There will be a slight chance of thunderstorms in Wyandotte County this morning, according to the National Weather Service, with a few storms possible this evening.
If skies clear this afternoon, there may be a few severe storms later capable of producing large hail, damaging winds and even an isolated tornado, the weather service said.
The main round of storms could occur tonight when a line of storms is expected to drop south out of Iowa, according to the weather service. The main threat is damaging winds.
The weather service said severe storms also are possible on Thursday across the entire area. The storms today through Friday could lead to local flooding, according to the weather service.
Today’s high will be near 90 with a heat index as high as 96, and a south southwest wind of 11 to 20 mph, gusting to 33 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 71, according to the weather service. A south wind of 11 to 16 mph may gust as high as 28 mph.
Thursday, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 89 with a heat index of 95. A south wind of 8 to 13 mph may gust as high as 24 mph.
Thursday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the weather service. The low will be 69, with a south wind of 8 to 10 mph. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.
Friday, there will be a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 83, the weather service said, and a west northwest wind of 7 mph.
Friday night, expect a low of 63 with partly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.
Saturday, it will be sunny with a high of 85, the weather service said.
Saturday night, the low will be around 65 with partly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.
Sunday, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 86.
