Foggy start to Groundhog Day

After patchy fog before 10 a.m. today, temperatures on Groundhog Day should rise to a high near 43, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Any groundhog venturing out will not likely see its shadow today in Wyandotte County. A cloud cover will keep temperatures cool across the region, and where clouds clear, the temperatures have a chance to rise into the 40s, the weather service said.

On Wednesday, temperatures could rise to 56 here, according to the weather service. Wednesday will have the highest temperatures of the coming week.

A strong cold front is expected to arrive Thursday morning, with strong northwest winds leading to falling temperatures throughout the day, the weather service said. The high will be near 44.

There is a slight chance of light snow on Thursday, accompanied by high winds, according to the weather service. The temperature may drop to 23 degrees Thursday night.

Look for arctic weather on the weekend. On Saturday, the high will be only 26, the weather service said, with Sunday’s temperature predicted to be near 17.

Today, there will be patchy fog before 10 a.m., with a high near 43 and a southeast wind of 7 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 30 and a southeast wind of 7 mph, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 56 and a south wind of 6 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 43 and a south wind of 8 to 13 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph, according to the weather service.

Thursday, there is a 30 percent chance of rain before 1 p.m., then a slight chance of snow, the weather service said. The high will be near 44 with a south southeast wind of 9 to 14 mph becoming northwest 17 to 22 mph in the morning. Winds may gust up to 40 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation is possible.

Thursday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 23 and blustery winds, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 45, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 21, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 26, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 4, according to the weather service.
