A flood warning for Wyandotte County and surrounding counties has been extended until 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
At 3:53 p.m., local law enforcement reported several roads across the region closed because of water over the roads, the weather service said.
Expected time of reopening of the roads is unknown, and there is another 12 to 24 hours of moderate to heavy rain possible, according to the weather service.
The area may begin drying out starting Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Locations that may experience flooding, in the flood warning area, include Wyandotte County, Miami County, Johnson County in Kansas, and western Cass County, Clay County, eastern Platte County and Jackson County, according to the weather service.
From a quarter to a half-inch of rain is possible tonight, another half-inch to three-quarters of rain is possible Tuesday, and three-quarters to one inch of rain is possible Tuesday night, according to the forecast.
