Flood warning extended until 12:45 p.m. today

A flood warning for Wyandotte County has been extended until 12:45 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.

At 9:43 a.m., emergency management reported flooding along some creeks and streams. up to four inches of rain had fallen over the area, the weather service said.

A flood warning means flooding is imminent or has been reported. Stream rises will be slow. However, those affected should take necessary precautions immediately, the weather service said.

Never drive vehicle into areas where water covers the roadway. Turn around and find anothe rroute.

Ponding of water may be found on highways, streets and underpasses as well as other areas, the weather service said.

A flash flood watch also is in effect in Wyandotte County until 1 p.m.
