Flood warning extended until 12:15 p.m. today in Wyandotte County

The flood warning for Wyandotte County has been extended until 12:15 p.m. Oct. 10, according to the National Weather Service.

The Kansas River at 23rd Street is currently in the action stage at 30.26 feet, where flood stage is 33 feet, and the Missouri River at Kansas City is at 28.1 feet, where flood stage is 32 feet, according to hydrology charts from the National Weather Service website.

Dry conditions expected through Thursday may help the situation, but there is more rain in the forecast for the weekend, including Thursday night and Friday, according to the weather service. Any flooding still ongoing by the weekend could last into next week.

Today, a few showers could linger across the region this morning, but they are not expected to be heavy rains. Rain is not in the forecast today for Wyandotte County.

Cooler temperatures over the coming weekend may allow some frost to develop in parts of the region late in the weekend.

Today, it will be mostly cloudy with a high near 55, the weather service said. A west wind of 9 to 14 mph will gust as high as 21 mph.

Tonight, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually clearing, with a low of 38 and a northwest wind of 8 to 10 mph, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be sunny with a high near 54 and a northwest wind of 8 to 10 mph, the weather service said.

Thursday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m., with a low of 42, according to the weather service. A north northwest wind of 5 mph will become calm in the evening. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Friday, there is an 80 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m., with a high near 51, the weather service said. The high will be near 51 with an east wind of 3 to 5 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Friday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m., with a low of 40, according to the weather service.

Saturday, the high will be near 56 with partly sunny skies, the weather service said.

Saturday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers with a low of 43, according to the weather service.

Sunday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m., with a high near 46, the weather service said.

Sunday night, the low will be around 34 with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 50, the weather service said.

Monday night, there will be areas of frost, with a low of 36, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be sunny with a high near 59, the weather service said.
