The National Weather Service has extended the flood warning for Wyandotte County until 11 p.m. today.
Other nearby counties also were included in the flood warning.
The National Weather Service said that Kansas City, Kan., Bonner Springs and other communities in the metropolitan area are expected to experience some flooding.
The weather service advised residents to turn around when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles, according to the weather service.
