The flood warning for Wyandotte County has been extended from 3:50 p.m. Oct. 9 until 3:45 a.m. Oct. 10, according to the National Weather Service.
Motorists who encounter flooded roads are advised to turn around and take another route, not to try to go through the flooded roadways.
Surrounding counties also are included in the flood warning.
The weather service said 6 to 10 inches of rain has fallen in the Kansas City area recently. An additional 1 to 3 inches of rain could fall in this area, leading to additional flooding.
Wyandotte County also is under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. Tuesday.
