Flood advisory in effect until 8 p.m.

A flood advisory is in effect in Wyandotte County until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The urban and small stream flood advisory is in effect for Wyandotte County, northeastern Leavenworth County and south central Platte County, the weather service said.

Between 1.5 inches and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen, according to the weather service. One Wyandotte County rain gauge registered 1.75 inches of rain.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the
Area, the weather service said. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Motorists were advised to turn around and not try to go through flooded roads, according to the weather service.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize flood waters, the weather service said.
