The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Wyandotte County in effect for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, through 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25.
While there has not been as much rain across the area this morning and afternoon, expectations are that the storms tonight will produce a lot of rain, according to the weather service.
Excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding of creeks and streams, as well as other low-lying areas and urban locations, the weather service said. This may include areas that are not typically flood prone.
Residents are advised to monitor weather forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued, according to the weather service.
