A flash flood warning has been issued for Wyandotte County from 2:39 p.m. July 30 through 8:30 p.m. July 30, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning also is in effect in Leavenworth County and Johnson County, according to the weather service.
At 2:33 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain were moving into the area. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly, the weather service said.
Residents are advised not to try to drive through flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles, the weather service said.
Small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses will be affected, along with drainage areas and low-lying spots, according to the weather service.
