A flash flood warning has been issued for Wyandotte County from 3:45 p.m. until 7:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Heavy rain, pea-sized hail and lightning were moving across Wyandotte County about 3:45 p.m.
Up to 3 inches of rain has already fallen and additional heavy rain is expected this afternoon and evening, the weather service said.
Those who are in the warned area should move to higher ground immediately, the weather service said. Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.
Residents should avoid trying to cross flooded roads.
Also under the flash flood warning are Clay County, southeastern Clinton County, Ray County, Caldwell County and southeastern Platte County.
