The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Wyandotte County and surrounding areas.
The warning is in effect from 8:01 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6.
At 7:59 p.m., radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Two to three inches of rain have already fallen and flash flooding is expected to begin shortly, according to the weather service.
Kansas City, Kansas, and Bonner Springs are in the flooding area, as well as several other surrounding areas, according to the weather service.
Additional rainfall amounts of two to four inches are possible in the warned area, the weather service said.
The weather service warned drivers to turn around and not try to go through flooded roads.
