A flash flood warning is in effect for northwestern Wyandotte County until 1 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
At 10:04 a.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area the weather service said. One to two inches of rain has already fallen in some areas. Flash flooding was anticipated.
Bonner Springs, Edwardsville and Kansas City, Kansas, are among the cities listed that will experience flash flooding, according to the weather service. Also listed were the Pomeroy, Beverly and Maywood neighborhoods.
Surrounding areas in Leavenworth County and Platte County also were under the flash flood warning.
Residents were advised to avoid flooded areas, and not try to drive through flooded roads.
