A total of 29 fireworks-related injuries were reported from Friday, July 1, through 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at the University of Kansas Health System’s Burnett Burn Center.
There were 11 hospitalizations from the fireworks injuries, according to a news release.
According to the news release from the hospital, there were a total of 24 male patients and five female patients, ranging in age from 5 to 45, who were treated for fireworks-related injuries at the hospital. The burn unit is in Kansas City, Kansas.
The injuries were located on the hands or face, and were caused by mortars, sparklers, firecrackers and M-80s, according to the news release.
The Burnett Burn Center is a nationally accredited burn center for treatment of both adult and child burn victims.
