Firefighters raise more than $70,000 for detective’s family

The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department, with the International Association of Firefighters Local 64, raised more than $70,000 for the family of slain Detective Brad Lancaster, a spokesman said Saturday.

Firefighters held a “boot block” campaign during the Memorial Day weekend to raise funds for the family of the Kansas City, Kan., detective, who lost his life in the line of duty.

“As public safety servants, we stand together in supporting the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department and Detective Lancaster’s family,” the Fire Department spokesman said.

“The support from our community is overwhelming,” the spokesman said.
