A fire was reported at 8:43 a.m. Friday at the A1 Barrel Co., 6035 Kansas Ave. in Kansas City, Kansas.
According to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department, the first crews at the fire reported heavy black smoke and a fully involved fire.
The fire was fought in a defensive mode with exposure control to a nearby mobile home, according to the spokesman.
Once the fire was under control, firefighters made the transition to an interior attack to put out the remaining fire and search for hot spots, the spokesman stated.
Employees had been on break and noticed smoke filling the break room, according to the spokesman. They left the building, noticed the extensive fire and called 911.
There were no injuries to employees and firefighters, according to the spokesman.
The fire’s cause is under investigation, the spokesman stated.
