A fire at a home at 1129 Shawnee Ave. is under investigation as electrical, according to a Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department spokesman.
The fire occurred at 8:33 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13.
All the residents got out of the home after neighbors told them their house was on fire, according to the spokesman.
Three adults and four children, girls ages 13 and 4, and boys ages 11 and 9, lived at the home, according to the spokesman. The Red Cross was called to assist the family, the spokesman said.
When they arrived, three minutes after the call, fire crews saw heavy smoke coming from the attic of the one-story wood-framed residential building, the spokesman said.
The pre-fire value of the home was $70,000, and the estimated damage to the structure and contents was $78,000, according to the Fire Department.
There were no injuries, the spokesman said.
There were no smoke or fire detectors present, the Fire Department stated.
