The Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department has issued a burn ban because of high winds, according to an announcement today.
The ban will be in effect now through 7 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, a spokesman stated.
All open outdoor fires will need to be extinguished until the ban is over, the spokesman said. The Fire Department will decide on Tuesday morning whether to extend the burn ban, depending on the weather, according to a spokesman.
No “open burn” permits will be issued until after 7 a.m. April 25, according to the spokesman. The city’s open burn ordinance will remain in effect once the open burn ban is over. Residents need a permit from a fire station for open burning.
